It's an anthropological book about, obviously, the English.
To be perhaps redundant (but clear), it's about the people/culture of England--not of the United Kingdom or Britain, or Northern Ireland, Wales, or Scotland.
Call me boring, but I'm really enjoying it so far : )

Hope you enjoy your stay in England. The book does sound boring, by the way, but you can't always judge a book by its title. The fires in California sound terrible. I hope they're nowhere near where you come from.
